Anne of Green Gables - Lucy Maud Montgomery

I am almost through with Anne of Green Gables I think that I have 9 more chapters. One part I liked was at the bottom of page 152 where Mrs. Lynde tells Anne that "It's because you're too heedless and impulsive, child, that's what. You never stop to think -- whatever comes into your head to say or do you say or do it without a moment's reflection."
"Oh, but that's the best part of it," protested Anne. "Something just flashes into your mind, so exciting, and you must out with it. If you stop to think it over you spoil it all. Haven't you never felt that yourself, Mrs. Lynde?" When I read that I thought that sounds just like a kid. I mean that in a good way. I would like all of my granddaughters particular to read this book. Anne is such a sweet girl who wants to be good. She has a very vivid imagination, is impulsive, and can be outspoken. These traits have gotten her into a lot of trouble but they have also be the source that helped her to solve problems, too. It is such a good read with a lot of good lessons mingled in. I thought that it was great that Anne could pull from her experiences in the past and know how to deal with Minnie May when she got the croup. That just goes to show you that some of our problems can be great assets later on.

As soon as I am done with this I am going to start on Laddie. I am really pleased because Cody is reading Little Britches by choice. I am going to try and talk to the teacher that oversee the students that are in his age group if there isn't some way that he can use it as part of his literature class. He has to read 4 novels this year. He is really liking it.

I have learned so much and have grown so much since we started this I want you to know how grateful I am to you for letting me join with you. I can see it benefitting not only myself but how I act and react to those around me particularly my family. It has already been a great blessing to me. Thank you so much for including me. I am finding that I have a great thirst for good books to read and I am really excited and chomping at the bit to help Cody with his school work this year. I am anxious to get into his English class because I know that I will learn or relearn things that will benefit me in my writing class.

Please let me know when you have finished reading Laddie. Hopefully I won't be to far behind so we can move onto the next step.
