I had an ephiphany last night while we were reading the scriptures as a family. We were reading in 3 Nephi 4:4 and it says, "that they might subsist for the space of seven years." Rebecca said, "We don't even have enough food to last for 3 months. I sat up straight, and said something like. I never realized Food storage was in the scriptures. However, as soon as I thought about it I realized that it is there, several different times, in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I'm just going to start a list tonight, but sometime soon I hope to come back and look up these stories, and see just what it says about their foodstorage.
Jaradites
Nephi builds a ship
Noah
Joseph in Egypt (7 years)
Nephite Army's (7 years)
Moses - not food storage but cared for by the Lord.
Pioneers (3 months or more)
My food storage will never stack up to the 7 years storage, but I know that I can do better than I currently am doing. As Nephi said, "I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded."
